How to Style Multiple Piercings?

You have probably read about What Is A Curated Ear but in this little guide we’re putting together, we will dive into the details of how you can style multiple piercings. With these tips and tricks, you can learn to transform your ears into a canvas of self-expression, creating curated arrangements that reflect your unique style and personality!

At the end of the day, remember this: there is no right or wrong way of styling, as long as you like the way it looks! 😉

1. START WITH A FOCAL POINT

Begin the styling process by selecting a statement piece that will determine the overall aesthetic of your look.

The statement piece could be a vibrant gemstone, bold hoops or a geometric design. Building around this central piece ensures a cohesive and visually appealing composition.

2. LAYER DIFFERENT TEXTURES

Play around by layering earrings with varying textures. Smooth polished metals can be mixed with twisted finishes, textured surfaces, or gemstone facets. Incorporating diverse textures adds depth and dimension, preventing the ear curation from appearing flat or monotonous. Consider pairing our sleek, minimalist studs with intricately detailed hoops or textured cuffs to create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.

3. THE CASCADING RULE

Position larger and bolder pieces at the lower part of the ear (e.g. lobe) where there is more space and slowly transition into smaller pieces towards the higher part of the ear (e.g. helix, flat).

This technique creates a sense of flow and balance, drawing the eye along the ear's natural curve. The cascading effect also prevents the ear from appearing cluttered, ensuring each earring remains a distinct element within the overall composition.

4. STUD VS. HOOP

The choice between studs and hoops is crucial for achieving balance and maximizing impact. Studs are ideal for areas with limited space, such as the helix, flat, or tragus – where their compact size allows for comfortable and stylish placement. Hoops, with their larger circumference, are best suited for the earlobe or rook, where they can be showcased without overcrowding other piercings. The strategic placement of studs and hoops contributes to the overall symmetry and visual harmony of the ear curation.

5. BALANCE YOUR EARS, OR NOT

Balance is critical in ear curation. While symmetrical arrangements offer a classic and polished look, asymmetrical designs can create a more avant-garde and personalized aesthetic.

Consider the overall shape and structure of the ear, as well as piercing placements to ensure that the weight and distribution of earrings are balanced. Sometimes balanced does not mean stacking your earrings in a cascading fashion, but seeing an overall aesthetic balance.

For example, a bold statement earring on one lobe can be balanced with a cluster of smaller studs on the opposite ear. Or, a dangling earring can be placed at the higher lobe instead of the lowest part. Play around, have fun while you're at it!

6. ADD CUFFS – FOR EXTRA FLAIR

Want to wear more earrings but don’t have enough piercings? Ear cuffs provide a versatile and non-permanent way to add flair and dimension to ear curations. They can be strategically placed to fill gaps, create visual interest, or add a touch of edginess. Cuffs can be layered alongside existing piercings or used to create the illusion of additional piercings without the commitment. They offer a dynamic and adaptable element, allowing for experimentation and personalised styling.

7. MIXED METALS

Mixing metals, once considered a faux pas, is now a celebrated technique for creating a contemporary and bold aesthetic. Combining gold, silver and rose gold adds visual complexity and allows for greater personal expression. Ensure the metals complement each other in tone and finish, creating a harmonious blend rather than a discordant clash. For example, warm gold tones can be paired with cool silver accents to create a striking contrast.

There’s no right or wrong way to style the way your wear jewelry — if you love how it looks, that’s all that matters!❤️
